Over Age 50 Claims

SSI and SSDI Claims for People Over the Age of 50

As we get older, the likelihood that an illness, injury or disability will keep us from being able to work steadily increases. In recognition of this fact, there are Social Security Disability guidelines that make individuals of certain ages eligible for certain benefits.

However, even if you do qualify for such benefits, filling out the applications for SSI and SSDI claims can prove to be extremely difficult without the assistance of an experienced attorney.

To schedule a free consultation with Howard M. Hyman, Attorney at Law, please contact us online or call: 215-437-3048, toll free 866-721-7434, for our office in Northeast Philadelphia, or our offices in Jamison, Pennsylvania, and Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

How Have You Spent the Past 15 Years? How Old Are You Now?

Your eligibility for Social Security benefits depends in large part upon your age, level of education and/or how much you have worked in the past 15 years. In fact, if you have worked steadily and are over the age of 50, it will be much easier for you to qualify.

There are also a variety of specific illnesses that can make you eligible to receive these benefits, including

  • Back pain
  • Mental disorders
  • Heart and coronary disease
  • Cancer
  • Diseases of the liver, kidney or skin
  • Psoriasis
  • Arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
  • Alzheimer's or dementia

Past Due Benefits

When you receive benefits, the government will reimburse you for the entire time you've been disabled, regardless of when you first applied. So, if you're 54 and have been disabled since you were 52, you can start receiving benefits and also receive a lump-sum payment equal to approximately two years' worth of "past due" payments. Please note our firm only charges a fee for SSI and SSDI claims and appeals if we are successful in securing past due benefits.

Please contact us today to schedule a free initial consultation with a dedicated lawyer to discuss your SSI and/or SSDI claim.
